If you are feeling overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you own, you are not alone. Like myself, many people over the age of 45 face the challenge of what to do with the amount of possessions we have been accumulating. Then thoughts about someday moving into a smaller place, simplifying our lifestyle, or just creating more space and order in our environment dance through our minds. But we end up procrastinating on decisions we know we need to make. Yes, you are not alone! Grace Rehman wants to come alongside you to provide you with bite-sized tips, emotional and mental support, encouragement, and laughter in between the messy middle as you declutter, downsize, and move. Even if you’re not thinking about relocating just yet, these episodes will help you gain momentum to get started with deciding what to keep and what to let go. Decluttering and downsizing (she would rather say ”rightsizing”) can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. As your Home Organizer next door, Grace can help you get started and make the process easier and more enjoyable.

Here are 3 simple actions I am taking to care for my mental health and how you can too.
When we think about medical concerns, I feel that mental health is like an afterthought and I hope to be an advocate to help bring more attention to it as much as physical health.
Enjoy!

Joshua Becker of Becoming Minimalist defines minimalism as “the intentional promotion of the things that bring you joy and the removal of those that do not.”
Years ago, I pictured minimalism as a nearly empty room with just a table, chair, and may one frame hanging on the wall. Boring! It was a foreign concept to me and didn't really care for it. It could be that I had certain fears that if I adopted it, I would have to get rid of my most precious possessions. Hints of guilty feelings about having too much stuff, I suspect, also kept me away from the true essence of minimalism.
Today, I am rethinking these beliefs and am excited that it's probably going to be one of the best things to happen to me (or for me to make happen, that is) and I may already be on the path. Hmmmm...
Join me and my new friend, Desireé Robinson, as we chat about what she refers to as "realistic minimalism".
Desireé is a wife, mom of two littles, a homesteader, and passionate about helping moms live an intentional, mindful, and meaningful lifestyle. She currently hosts a podcast called "Unprocessed Momma Intentional Lifestyle" where moms can find support with realistic minimalism and eliminating toxins. Hi Friends!
Have you ever had these great plans and life seems to go just right, then BAM! Something happens that stops you in your tracks and even derails you. Be of good courage, you are not alone.
I have been quiet on the pod lately and you will hear why. March has been a tough month, as many of you may have also experienced but know that you are often top of mind in this podcast and that your life experiences matter, organized or not.
Hugs,
Grace
P.S. I spoke about "trauma" in this episode and while what I went through may not appear on the level that the general population considers so, let us be careful not to compare one another's experiences but instead embrace and accept each other as we all go through hardships, little and big traumas, and difficulties in life. Love you lots!

In these challenging times in our world, it seems more difficult to celebrate, even our smallest wins. I sometimes get into "self-guilt" mode and think, "How can I celebrate when people are suffering?" I quickly realized that this helps no one, especially myself.
Instead, I have been shifting my thoughts and words into, "I care and will do my part about what is happening currently AND express cheer and gratefulness for life, accomplishments, and personal wins (large and small)."
My podcasting journey has not been an easy road with a couple of starts and stops but I am thankful to still be here, continuing on for you.
There is no better way to highlight this milestone than having a conversation with Danielle Esbit-Ayala, my friend, co-worker, and top listener of Organize with Grace. (Thank you, Danielle, so grateful for you!)
This was such a fun episode where Danielle talked with me about how the podcast has impacted her organizing journey. She also shares her 3 favorite episodes and why she chose them.

"Research conducted for the Huffington Post showed that 84 percent of Americans worry that their homes aren’t organized (or clean) enough — and 55 percent of those folks say it’s a big cause of stress." (https://nbcnews.to/3GRseFx)
Keeping this quote in mind, listen to this episode as I share with you the 10+ items I stopped purchasing (or have purchased less of) to curb the clutter in my home! I will then show you how I did so!
Clutter is often a cause of stress so take a deep breath, sit awhile and use this episode as motivation to declutter today!
Ok, correction on item 8, which is makeup! I have not stopped purchasing them altogether like I said but I have purchased significantly less and I stick to essentials like mascara, powder, and foundation. :)

Happy New Year Friends!
Today I want to share with you the 5 precious things I want to take with me in 2022. Often, we think about what we would like to leave behind instead, so I flipped it and made a list of things I want to take with me and I share them with you here:
1. The lessons I learned and my experience with healing from the inside (spiritual, mental, emotional).
2. The lessons I learned about the 5-week leave-of-absence I took from work due to burnout.
3. Celebrating our 10-year wedding anniversary.
4. More music, more singing!
5. New friends I've met, near and far.
I did include 1 thing that I would like to leave behind: toxic worrying.
What about you, friend, what would you like to take with you into 2022? What would you like to leave behind?

Home buying can feel exciting yet nerve-wracking and many say that it's the biggest purchase you will probably ever make. Ha! No pressure, right??? Have you dreamed about owning a home someday? Hey, it's great to dream because I believe it all starts with a dream!
As you continue to declutter and organize your current dwelling, it may compel you to think "we need more space". Now, that thought may not lead you to take the steps towards home buying, but even if you're still in the dreaming and planning phase, this episode will still benefit you, as we take a bird's-eye view and the right steps towards home buying.
You don't have to feel overwhelmed and definitely don't need to spend your precious time and energy to become the expert, but allow an expert like David to assist you in navigating through the process.
David Gonzales, Jr. is a realtor at Livermore Valley Real Estate with over 25 years of experience in both mortgage and real estate. He owned a brokerage in Pleasanton, CA for several years. Fun fact about David: He loves the holiday season.
****There is one item we didn't get to talk about within the interview, which is regarding the importance of your credit scores and credit card bills, and here is a tip from David:
Work on getting your credit scores up by paying off credit card bills and paying them on time. Even paying off the smallest ones makes a huge difference. A credit score of 580 and above can help.

41. Creating momentum for your decluttering and organizing project
Tuesday Nov 23, 2021
Tuesday Nov 23, 2021
Join me and my client and friend, Cecille, as we talk about her experience with me as her Virtual Home Organizer. We have been meeting consistently as I helped her organize her closet while she gave me pointers on writing (my dream is to write a book someday), all done through Zoom!
Cecille is an author, wife, mom of two adult children, caretaker for her father, retired teacher, and founder of Flowers for Elders, an organization that delivers flower arrangements to patients. She is a busy lady and simply needed someone to come alongside and provide her with guidance and accountability to declutter and organize so she can continue to make more room for all that’s dear in her heart.
During the decluttering and organizing process, Cecille is working to launch her own podcast! She is amazing! Her podcast is called “Digging Deep for Treasures”, which can be found on Spotify, Anchor, and soon on Apple Podcasts!
In this episode, you will get an inside look at what it’s like to work with me if you were to be my client.
You are ready to hire me as your Virtual Home Organizer if:
- You feel stuck with an organizing project and would like the momentum to start.
- You have a vision of what you would like for your space to look like, whether that’s your bedroom, closet, office, etc. (hey, even if you don’t yet, I can get you there!)
- You can complete the physical part of organizing (moving items, purchasing the organizing tools, etc.) or can get help from someone nearby who can complete them with you side-by-side.
So...are you ready??? It's as easy as emailing me to start at grace@organizewithgrace.com

40. Turn your hot-mess digital photos into an organized and meaningful story
Tuesday Nov 09, 2021
Tuesday Nov 09, 2021
Do you ever wonder how in the world you could ever organize all those photos you took from your phone? I do! How about the ones you attempted to save on your computer? Is it even possible?
I had the privilege of speaking with Darla DeMorrow, who is a digital and physical photo organizing ninja, along with her team at Heartwork Organizing and she was so gracious to provide some actionable tips on how to tame and organize my hot-mess digital photos.
Darla DeMorrow is a Certified Professional Organizer® and owner of HeartWork Organizing (https://HeartWorkOrg.com) since 2004. Based near Philadelphia, PA, she is a mom of 2, international speaker, and author of the best-selling book series SORT and Succeed (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079BC6485), which outlines five simple steps to help you organize stuff, time, paperwork, money, and photos. The Upbeat, Organized Home Office is the third book in the series (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082J5SVYT).
During the coming holidays, I hope that you will continue to make memories with your loved ones and that you capture them with photos that you will treasure for a lifetime!

39. Unveiling the impact of workplace burnout and how to take action
Tuesday Oct 05, 2021
Tuesday Oct 05, 2021
In this episode, I had a conversation with Tumboura Hill, my friend, and former colleague, about his journey in, through, and out of workplace burnout. If you have the slightest suspicion that you are experiencing workplace burnout, this episode is for you.
I then found an article titled "The World Health Organization officially recognizes workplace 'burnout' as an occupational phenomenon, " published in May 2019, written by Ashley Turner.
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/28/who-recognizes-workplace-burnout-as-an-occupational-phenomenon.html
The WHO (World Health Organization) says it is a syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.
I cheered this article because I felt that though workplace burnout has long existed, it is rarely talked about and in 2019, it is finally included in the latest revision of the International Classification of Diseases.
My feelings quickly turned into sadness and anger because it is indeed a problem that is rarely talked about and often dismissed or minimized either by the person experiencing it or the workplace that refuses to acknowledge it. The consequences and impact are alarming, as you will hear in this episode with Tumboura.
May this episode help you stop and assess where you are and bring you hope that there is light at the end of the burnout tunnel.
Here for you,
Grace

Do you ever wish you could just press the "Easy Button" to make everyday life, well, EASIER, as a working mom? I do!
Though I don't have this easy button or a magic wand to offer you (and myself), I have an interview with Melissa Salmeron to help you slow down, get grounded, and build good habits to gain more time in your day.
As a Certified Master Life Coach, Melissa helps other moms give themselves the space they need to defeat overwhelm, step into their power, and show up as their true selves through the power of her signature CARE Method:
C - Consciously Connected
Real Connection happens when you are grounded. Connection cannot happen in an overwhelmed state, through the introduction of different life strategies, Melissa will help you determine which are a fit for you.
A - Awareness
Discover how to prioritize life's needs. It's not a time constraint that's been missing in your life. It's about understanding what matters to you. Through the CARE Method, finally let go of the guilt of what you think motherhood is supposed to look like. You'll learn how to communicate your needs so that you can let go of the overwhelm knowing that what you are asking for is for everyone's highest good.
R - Re-energize
Habits
When you have the right habits in place, it's amazing how life suddenly feels easier. You will learn more about which habits serve you and the ones you need to let go of.
Boundaries
You may already realize that boundaries are the ultimate act of kindness and you also may be like I once was and not sure where and how to start putting them in place. Melissa will guide you in how to implement them in your relationships and you will be blown away at the impact this will have on your life.
E - Empowered From Within
Responsibility
It's our job to decide how we respond to life circumstances. Melissa will support you through understanding the role responsibility plays in your life so that you can stop reacting to life and start responding.
Choice
Life is choice. We often feel trapped in our lives thinking that there are no choices, it's just not true, we always have a choice. Melissa will work with you to show you how to make choices that best support you in any situation.

35. Permission to stop delaying your joy and peace (a conversation with Amber Trueblood)
Wednesday Aug 18, 2021
Wednesday Aug 18, 2021
Mama, I see you, sitting on the sidelines, putting everyone else first, yet yearning to know when it will be “my turn” to be happy.
“I will ____ when ____”.
“I will take that dance class when the kids are older.”
Have you uttered a statement like that when talking about something that you are interested in doing for yourself that would give you happiness and joy? I have. Yet, recently, I’m learning that delaying and denying have only led to resentment and overwhelm.
In a world that overloads women with guilt, this conversation with Amber Trueblood is my guilt-free gift to you. My hope is to give you the space to grant yourself the permission to discover what makes you smile and to just do it already!
About my guest, Amber Trueblood:
Amber Trueblood is a licensed therapist, author, podcaster, and mother to four sons. An avid reader and learner, Amber curates courses, workshops, and simple self-care tools for women.
